What do you like most about your profession?

A: What I like most about this profession is the importance of always being in the process of learning, to be able to give a good response to patients and contribute to their well-being and quality of life. Communication and empathy with patients, which we deal with throughout our working lives, contributes to the taste for one's profession.

In addition to therapist, he is a trainer. What differences do you think there are in these two functions?

A: The big difference is that we may be the best professionals, but we may not be the best trainers. It is important to know how to teach and get the message across. It was a surprise to be a trainer. I was very surprised by the positive! It's nice to be able to pass on experiences and knowledge to other people. Being a trainer also requires being always well prepared, studying more! This is the aspect that leads to better knowledge in the profession.

It is a client of MIPMED. How do you rate our services?

R .: Quality service and always helpful.

A .: Kinesio MIPMED tapes are very elastic and do not have much glue, which helps patients have no allergies.

In what situations / types of treatments do you use kinesio?

A .: I use kinesio in situations where it is necessary to activate or deactivate a muscular group. For example, cases of instability, edema and inflammation.

Have you had good results, feedback and patient improvement?

A .: Patient feedback is positive and patients themselves notice a difference with the use of Kinesio.

What kind of treatments did the patients report the most improvement on?

A .: Low back pain, gonalgias and ombralgias.

With regard to the color of Kinese, does its application follow a matter of personal taste of both client and therapist, or does color have any influence on treatment?

A: Regarding colors, I follow traditional Chinese medicine through chromotherapy.

Could you tell us more about the subject of chromotherapy? What kind of treatment or application is recommended for each color?

A: Chromotherapy is a type of treatment that consists of using color to restore physical and emotional balance. I usually use the colors blue, pink and cream. The blue color is a cooler color and acts on the structural part. The pink color a warmer color acts on the muscular part. And finally, the cream color is a neutral color.

From the time you did your kinesiotaping training until today, has anything changed regarding the application technique or new directives?

A .: Some applications have changed, because my first training in kinesiotaping was in 2014. The most recent was in 2017, to do an update.

Anabela Pereira is an Assistant Physiotherapy Technician and Professional Massage Therapist in the Sesimbra area. He currently works at the SottoMayor Therapeutic Center. Has basic training in physiotherapy. He worked in the field of physical therapy for 7 years. He trained in kinesiotaping 5 years ago.

Like what you do. Of the profession in general and, in particular, of monitoring improvements. Considers that physical improvements are more visible in the area of alternative therapies than in the area of physical therapy.

How long have you been training in kinesiotaping?

I did 5 years ago.

From the moment you learned about this technique until today has anything changed? In terms of enforcement techniques, new directives?

I have not been recycling. But I have colleagues who work with me, who are more recent educated, who work the same way.

For which situations do you apply Kinese most? In what therapeutic indications?

The SottoMayor Therapeutic Center is more focused on alternative medicines. It is a Chinese Medicine and Osteopathy Clinic. Therefore, we use more kinese for drainage, to support the lower back or shoulder, Achilles tendon. Note that the center is not geared towards sport.

Do you use the Kinese technique to help other techniques?

Yes, exactly. It is related to the act of consciousness our subconscious. Upon detecting a foreign body will go to that location. The foreign body is Kinesio, which is placed in the area to be treated. Kinese will activate our defense mechanisms, directing them all over there. Basically when you want to treat a zone, put the tape to direct to that zone.

Have you had good results using kinesio tape?Feedback, patient improvement?

Yes. Feedback is positive.

When do patients confirm improvements?

Tendonitis of the shoulder. Patients report that they do not feel so much pain.

Have you had any allergies?

Yes we have, but I don't exactly blame the band. There are people who are allergic to dressings, for example. Each has a different sensitivity to different things.

Kinese application can beautify the body. There is now a fashion behind this whole process. When you apply the technique try to make a beautiful result, or make a beautiful cut?

Yes, for example round the corners. Not all scissors make a nice cut. It is difficult to cut Kinese due to glue. For this reason scissors are very important in this process. It has to be good scissors!

Use the kinesio of MIPMED. What is your opinion about them?

It has a lot of elasticity. It has good glue, adheres well! There is no extra glue, which sometimes impairs treatment.

We appreciate all the sympathy and collaboration of these professionals in this interview, on a topic about which there is not much information: Kinesiotaping. We also appreciate the kindness of providing the photos that were used throughout the interview.
