 Kinesiotaping

The technique of kinesiotaping consists of the application of an elastic ligature to the skin, to give stability and support to the muscles and joints during the process of rehabilitation, without restricting the movements and promoting a better musculoskeletal functioning.

This technique can be used to prolong the effect of manual therapies allowing the beneficios of the same to be maintained throughout the day or until the following treatment, being used for several problems in orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological, circulatory, lymphatic, among others.

Such versatility as well as ease of application, ease of use and low cost have made Kinesio tape treatment a very popular method.

The use of these bands can be widely exploited in different populations (from pediatrics to geriatrics) because of their safety.

  Main benefits

  • Corrects muscle function - The band relieves the abnormal tension of the muscle, enhancing and facilitating the action of the muscle, when it is weakened.
  • Improves blood and lymphatic circulation - Kinesio promotes circulation at these levels, facilitating the absorption of edema and / or bruising.
  • Relieves pain - After the placement of these tapes in the affected area, it promotes the neurological suppression of pain, allowing the normal functioning of different musculoskeletal structures, without limiting movement and reducing or eliminating symptoms such as pain.
  • Repositioning the joint subluxation - A displaced joint due to abnormal muscle tension can be corrected with the band that will aid in recovery of the fascia and muscle function.
  • Increases proprioception - This happens through the stimulation of the mechanorrecetores.
  • Improve / correct posture - in children, adolescents and pregnant.
  • Support the gavid belly - relieving the load of the same and protecting the lumbar spine.

  • Headaches (Stress);
  • Whiplash - Whiplash Syndrome;

 Contraindications

  • There are no absolute contraindications.
  • Individuals with skin problems such as psoriasis, allergies or a tendency to skin irritation with other types of bandages should do a sensitivity test.
  • Elastic bands should not be exposed to sunlight or high temperatures since the adhesive mass is heat-reactive.
  • Finally, it is crucial to emphasize that the neuromuscular bands must be applied by a specialized professional with accurate placement technique. Otherwise inadvertent application may lead to aggravation of the pathologies.

  Brief history of kinesio tape

This method was conceived by the Japanese chiropractor Kenzo Kase around 1973. For Dr. Kase it was a basic premise that muscles and other soft tissues such as fascia, ligaments and tendons could be helped through a support or support external. This required only a tape or elastic band that would be able to aid the normal function of the tissues. Thus, Dr. Kenso Kase began a research to obtain an innovative material, elastic and adhesive. In the beginning developed neuromuscular bands were used in patients and only in the 90s were used for the first time in Japan, in Volleyball players. In the first decade after its introduction, practitioners in Japan were the primary beneficiaries in the use of kinesiological tape therapy. In 1988, the tape was adopted by Olympic athletes and Japanese professionals before spreading around the world.

 What is the difference between kinesiotaping and kinesiology?

Sometimes these concepts are confused. Often there are those who think that it is the same technique / science.

Kinesiology, kinesiology or kinesiology, is a system of muscular tests, mainly qualitative, whose objective is to evaluate the blockages in the mechanisms of the organism. It considers the structure, physiology, nutrition, cognitive aspects, affective and social aspects, as well as the vital energy of the human being, updating its mechanisms of recovery.

The word means science of motion, there being no clearer definition of the reality of Kinesiology.

 Kinesiology recognizes that there are flows of energy and information in the body that relate not only to the muscles but also to all the tissues and organs of the body, to our being to have life, to the senses and feelings.

These energy flows can be evaluated by controlling the functioning of muscles, which in turn reflect the general state of the body in chemical, emotional, and structural balance.

The foundation of Kinesiology is that the body has innate healing energy and is constantly doing everything it can to take care of itself to regain balance and functionality. Blocks sometimes occur in this stream.

 Kinesiology is one of the most widely applied complementary health methods in the field of mind-body interaction.

Kinesiology uses muscle response and body language as a reference for improving, integrating and relating a person's physical, nutritional, emotional, mental and energetic aspects.

There are several types of applications:

• Kinesiology for children

• Kinesiology for pain relief

• Kinesiology for stress

• Kinesiology for nutrition

• Kinesiology for structural problems

• Kinesiology to stay healthy

Kinesiology seeks to restore the balance and functionality of your body.
