Additional information

Why is it important to moisturize the skin of the feet?

The feet have an arduous task: supporting the weight of the body, they are cramped in less comfortable shoes, they suffer constant friction, and sometimes they do not receive proper attention. Result: Rough, stiff and thick skin.

The skin thickens as a defense. The horny layer of the sole of the foot increases, as a protective reaction, and the feet are more susceptible to cracks, which are more frequent when the feet are very dry. These cracks can be entry points for infections.

To avoid cracks, hydrate your feet very well, with specific products for the skin of this area of the body.

Follow these tips:

  • The sandpaper should be used very sparingly, as it causes intense friction on the skin and can further damage the stratum corneum.
  • Use a moisturizing exfoliant with thicker granules, for a better result in the elimination of dead cells.
  • To make the skin thinner, creams with salicylic acid are ideal. They dissolve the keratin that makes up calluses.
  • Opt for hydrating foot butters. In addition to hydration, they prevent the skin's natural moisture from evaporating and nourish the epidermis.
  • Urea and lactic acid are two very emollient actives. If the cream formulation contains them better!
  • For the cream to penetrate and hydrate the skin more: apply the cream to the feet and wrap them in a plastic film for 15 minutes.
  • Up-to-date foot hygiene: wash your feet daily, and dry them well. Well, the humid environment is conducive to the proliferation of fungi and bacteria that cause problems (foot odor, chilblains and mycoses).
  • Foot deodorant.
  • Footwear must be suitable: models that allow the feet to breathe, facilitating air entry. Open shoes are the most suitable, while plastic and rubber shoes, as well as sneakers, should be avoided, as they cause increased perspiration. You can also apply the deodorants.
