In this category you will find a selection of products that contain paraffin as one of the main raw materials

One of the best discoveries in recent times is the benefits of paraffin for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.

Paraffin Applications

Paraffin treatment is ideal for dry areas of the skin. There are a lot of uses for paraffin. Its liquid version is widely used for medicines, cosmetics, hair care products and aesthetic treatments, especially when the purpose is hydration.

By using treatments by immersion in liquid paraffin, an opening in the pores of the skin is achieved, making cleaning and hydration easier and deeper.

With the paraffin heated to at least 37ºC, aesthetic treatments can improve the blood flow of the part of the body that receives it and help the skin's internal moisture reach the outer layer, thus bringing the benefit of hydration.

Widely used in treatments for dry face, feet and hands, liquid paraffin creates a protective layer on the skin, helping to reduce the amount of dead cells present, increasing elasticity, decreasing the sensation of roughness and smoothing the dryness aspect.

It has thermoplastic properties and repels water. Widely used for the protection of various applications, such as cardboard packaging for the food industry and coating of cheeses and fruits.

In cosmetics.

Used by surfers on the surfboard.

Nail strengthening and muscle relaxation.

Crayons.

Hot melt adhesives.

Carbon paper.

Paints.

Paintings.

MASK
Liquid paraffin mask
An aesthetic treatment.
With the liquid paraffin at an average temperature of 37ºC, dip your hands or feet alternately to create a glove with layers of paraffin.
Wrap the area with transparent kitchen paper and a towel to maintain the temperature for 20 minutes.
Remove the hardened paraffin and, finally, it is recommended to apply a moisturizing cream.
If the treatment is accompanied by a specialized professional, it prevents possible damage to the skin.

This method is excellent for several reasons:

Moisturizes dry regions, is a great muscle relaxation agent, ideal for those who have muscle and joint pain. When applied, the heat from the wax increases the body's blood flow, helping you to relax and regain your movements, hence local circulation.
Relieves muscle fatigue and pain, in diseases such as arthritis or tendonitis,
During the winter months, our bodies become drier and “scaly”. The wax made with paraffin removes dead cells, and when in contact with the skin promotes the opening of the pores, facilitating hydration and cleaning of the region, leaving the skin with an incredible appearance.
And the benefits don't stop there: paraffin is a great strengthening agent for nails!

CANDLES

Paraffin for candle making:

The spark plug consists of a solid cylinder, fuse and with a wick surrounded by combustible material.

When the candle is lit, the combustible material is liquefied and absorbed by combustion.

The combustion gases formed are raised to ignition temperature, burning and generating illumination.

Paraffin/Styrin
Mixture of paraffin and styarin (80% + 20%) in straws.

Due to the effects of the styarin present in this mixture, the demolding of the candles becomes easier and practically cancels out the black smoke released during the burning of the candle.

Care
To work with paraffin you need a place without children or pets.
Well ventilated and away from other objects that could burn.

Paraffin catches fire when heated past the point.
Always heat in a bain-marie, and stay tuned. Do not exceed a temperature of 90 º Celcios.

Pour into molds between 75 and 80º Celcios.

To obtain a good quality candle, the following aspects must be taken into account:

• nature of fuel (ie type of wax used)
• its melting point
• viscosity
• burning power
• wick selection
• equipment
• mixing and coloring methods
• manual or machine production

SURF

Paraffin in Surf

Surfers apply paraffin to surfboards. There are different types targeted for each water temperature. After all, what is paraffin for? It is used to provide grip and prevent the surfer from slipping off the board. In other words, it helps to stabilize the feet.

The paraffin is rubbed onto the surfboard whenever the surfer enters the sea.

Paraffin can be replaced or used in conjunction with the deck (which is more common) — a non-skid rubber adhesive that is glued to the parts where the feet are positioned (commonly on the tail).

Types of paraffins:
They are rated for melting point.

In the composition of waxes in general.

  • 120/125ºF – 3 paraffin is used:

In the matches, tanneries and emulsions industry;
In the composition of rubber artifacts;
In the manufacture of emulsions for the textile industry;
As an additive in the manufacture of tires

  • Paraffin 150/155ºF – 2 is used:

In the manufacture of candles;
As a waterproofing agent for paper and packaging, tarpaulins and refrigerators;
In the manufacture of tires and rubber artifacts;
For the paraffination of fruits and cheeses.

  • Paraffin 140/145ºF - 1 and 2 are used:

In the manufacture of candles;
As a waterproofing agent for paper and packaging, tarpaulins and refrigerators;
As an additive in the manufacture of tires and chemicals;
In the composition of waxes in general;
As an additive in the formulation of paints and varnishes.

  • 170/190°F Paraffin - is used:

As an insulating material for electricity and waterproofing;
In the manufacture of household polishes and waxes;
Rubber artifacts;

About paraffin:

  • Paraffin is a petroleum derivative.
  • Also known as mineral oil, white oil, liquid vaseline or base oil, liquid paraffin is a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons obtained through the distillation of crude oil.
  • With little odor it is a non-polar substance, paraffin can be considered a non-toxic substance.
  • Due to its fuel properties, it is the essential raw material in the manufacture of candles.
  • It is commonly found with a white solid wax appearance, no odor, no taste and a typical melting point between 47°C and 65°C.
  • It is insoluble in water but soluble in diethyl ether, ether, benzene and certain esters.
  • Does not react with most common chemical reagents, but burns quickly.
