Additional information

Paraffin is a petroleum derivative discovered by Carl Reichenbach. Known for its high purity, excellent brightness and reduced odor, it can also be used as a fuel. It has thermoplastic and water-repellent properties and is widely used to protect various applications, such as in cardboard packaging for the food industry and cheese and fruit coating. Due to its fuel properties, it is the essential raw material in the manufacture of candles. Other applications common to paraffin include cosmetics, crayons, hot melt adhesives, carbon paper, paints, paints, etc.

Paraffins are organic compounds classified as aliphatic hydrocarbons. The aliphatic term comes from the Greek áleiphar, which means “that it serves to anoint; oil ”, due to its oily characteristic.

Paraffins are produced from the refining of lubricating oils. Depending on the degree of refining, they have white color and excellent chemical stability. The process can be carried out using solvents, so that the oil is solubilized at the same time as the paraffin is precipitated.
